FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Below you will find answers to the most common questions. If you have any additional questions about invitations, the process etc, please do not hesitate to email hello@debbiewongdesign.com .

Invitation Tiers and Pricing

Debbie Wong Design offers three tiers for invitation design.

Semi-custom design: From eight unique designs of ink and watercolor invitation suites to choose from, each one is inspired from nature to Old World art masters. These semi-custom designs let allow you to customize your names in calligraphy script, choosing the colors and personalize with your wedding information. Semi-custom designs are ideal if you need a quicker turnaround time than custom work. Click here to see the semi-custom guide and here for the designs.

It is recommended to allocate from $1,500- $2,500 for 100 invitations to allow you flexibility and variety of embellishments.

A-la-carte illustration/venue/map: Add a special element, such as a venue illustration, for that extra touch to your invitations.

Custom work: From preliminary pencil sketches to the final inking and painting stage, these invitations are lovingly designed from scratch. It’s truly a collaboration between each wedding couple and myself to ensure these invitations are everything what you hope them to be.

For custom invitations, the average Debbie Wong Design couple invests between $2,500 - $3,500 in custom stationery. After you fill out this questionnaire, a detailed quote will be sent to you.

Choosing a custom option ensures you are getting custom art work (watercolor, ink), the way how you want them, and no one else will be like yours! I’ve done venue illustrations, heirloom wedding crests, waterolor maps, and your guests will be delighted as they open up the envelope and see what’s inside.

What kind of paper can I choose for the invitation, RSVP card etc?

I've carefully curated and chose paper to reflect my brand and aesthetics. I offer card stock paper, handmade paper with deckle edges and Italian Euro-size papers with soft torn edges.

For a lot of watercolor artwork on your stationery, I highly recommend using the card stock paper for printing.

What calligraphy scripts do you offer?

I work with a traditional pointed calligraphy nib. Some of my favorite scripts are Spencerian and the Modern Elegance calligraphy. Here are the six styles I currently offer.

  1. Copperplate - traditional and elegant

  2. Flourished Copperplate- takes the original Copperplate with elegant flourishes added on

  3. Modern - has a free and flowing style

  4. Modern Elegance - modern yet elegant with oval flourishes

  5. Spencerian - part of the Golden Age of Ornamental Penmanship from 1850 - 1925. Penmanship was at the height for artistic writing.

  6. Italian Hand - delicate and whimsical script, also affectionately known as “the blob top”

What are the ink colors, envelope colors and options when creating my invitation?

When working with me, I like to curate suggested ink and envelope colors based on your wedding color palette. From these initial suggestions, it’ll be like a springboard where we can narrow down the final colors for your invitations.

When should I inquire or book?

It is never too early to inquire at all! It is best to inquire early so you can secure a spot in my schedule. It is recommended to secure your spot 4-6 months in advance before mailing. This ensures we can collaborate without rushing.

On average it can take 4 weeks for a semi-custom suite before mailing. For custom depending on the number of cards, it can take 8-12 weeks for custom suites since it involves preliminary concept sketches before moving on to the painting and drawing stage.

Is there a minimum spend?

Yes, there is a minimum order spend of $500 for invitations, day of items and other custom design projects. For engraving or bottle painting projects, please email hello@debbiewongdesign.com for a quote.
