historic martha vineyard in massachusetts, jillian & joe

Jillian and Joe got married in summer 2019 at the historic Martha Vineyard, and it was everything I would hope for a dream invitation suite. From watercolor painting, Spencerian calligraphy, vintage stamps, wax seal, maps and vow books. Everything is like eye candy for me.

For the invitation suite, the lighthouse was painted as it was where Joe proposed to Jillian. Their cute dog Dakota couldn’t go to the wedding, but they suggested to add Dakota in the invitation so she would “be” at the wedding too! The ceremony was held at the grand Old Whaling Church and the reception at Daniel Fisher House next door. Both paintings were represented on their RSVP card. The fun watercolor map showed all the places their guests could do during their time on the island from sightseeing to their favorite places to grab a bite.

Since the envelope contents were eye candy, the envelopes itselfweren’t neglected. By choosing classic Spencerian calligraphy with white ink on navy blue envelopes, it created an impactful look. Especially when you add on vintage stamps of ocean nature, blue tones, Massachusetts itself with Old-World floral paintings. When the envelope is turned over to open up the flap, guests can see the antique gold hydrangea wax seal. The motif is appropriate given how much hydrangea plants grow and sprawl all over the island.
